We look at how the characteristics of autism may have direct impacts on the individual’s ability to develop and maintain positive wellbeing and resilience.

  • A young person on the autism spectrum may have added difficulties in the area of developing a positive sense of wellbeing.
  • We will discuss how the need to ‘have friends’ varies from person to person.
  • There are strategies, programs and resources that can support young people on the spectrum to learn about resilience, and develop the skills necessary to identify times of difficulty and ways of working through this.
  • We will also focus on the importance of working together with your school to ensure everyone understands the unique impacts of autism on the individual, as well as developing protective factors for each young person
