Positive Partnerships are proud to share a resource called: Autism, Our Kids, Our Stories: Voices of Aboriginal Parents Across Australia.

This book shares lived experiences from First Nation families across Australia sharing their parenting journey and experiences in seeking diagnosis and support for their children.

This book aims to connect and raise awareness through the shared stories and lived experiences of First Nations families. Due to systemic issues, including a lack of resources, awareness and understanding, First Nations communities face ongoing difficulties around disability and getting the support they need. Communities may have a mistrust in systems whilst carrying the weight of fear, shame and blame that can lead to low numbers of diagnosis. Young people may also be misdiagnosed due to these same barriers.

10 First Nations families across Australia with autistic children share their own stories and lived experiences. We are currently updating this resource - stay tuned!
