Autistic, parent, professional, mentor, autism reference group member from Tasmania.

As a child, when things were going badly and I was feeling hopeless and alone, my dad would sit beside me and we would use stick figures and diagrams to make a map of what has happened. Then we would look for a place in the events where doing something different might have changed the outcome for the better.

That was so helpful in developing a range of strategies I could use in difficult situations. I also learned that no matter how bad things were, I could change that to an extent.

Geraldine talks about her experiences in supporting behaviour, as well as transitions and practical tips to support the home-school partnership.
