Resources for culturally and linguistically diverse communities

These resources have been developed for families of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, and those that are supporting them.

There are a range of resources that have been translated into 6 languages to assist with conversations and shared planning to support a child with diverse learning needs and their family. The resources could be useful for families, schools or any services that are supporting children and families from diverse backgrounds.

The resources are available in English and have been translated into the following languages:

Animation - A Family Journey

This animation was made in collaboration with parents from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and with the assistance of italk Library. The story provides a father's perspective as he thinks back on his early concerns for his son and where the autism journey has taken his family. It is a story that resonates with many different communities.

Selim is a Turkish father who has brought his family to Australia to access services for their 6 year old son Ege. He and his wife Handan share their family’s autism journey and a profile of Ege.

Ngoc’s Story - Vietnamese with English subtitles

Ngoc shares the journey of autism for her family and their daughter Han. These interviews were developed to share at the Parent Carer workshops for the Vietnamese community, and support the use of the Visual Planning Matrix and the other resources for culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
