Maureen O'Donnell - Team Leader, Pilot Programs

Why Positive Partnerships?Maureen O'Donnell

I have been part of the three phases of the Positive Partnerships project, beginning in 2009. It was, and still is the best program that I have been a part of. I believe it helps make a difference to the living and learning opportunities for young people on the autism spectrum, their families and those that work in partnership with them.

What personal values and attributes do you bring to the role?

I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to be their best and it is our shared responsibility to support others in accessing what they need to be that best.

What do you hope to achieve in this role?

I am looking forward to seeing the new programs take shape and watching how they meet the needs of local communities.

What has inspired you in the past?

I have been inspired by young people on the autism spectrum being valued and recognised for the unique contributions that they make in their communities and in the world.

Tell us about your previous roles

I was initially a preschool teacher and moved into the early invention field within an autism service in 2001. This work lead me to an opportunity to be part of the Positive Partnerships workshop delivery team.

What inspires you to make a difference?

I am inspired by the stories of challenge and hope that others share with us.
