Kerry Grogan - Team Leader, Western Australia

I have worked with children on the autism spectrum and their families for the past 6 years, firstly as a Case Manager/Teacher in an Early Learning and Care centre and then as an Autism Advisor.

Working closely with children and families in the early stages of their journey can be emotional and challenging at times. What is rewarding is helping parents to better understand their children and to recognize and value the wonderful and unique strengths and talents they possess.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with Positive Partnerships as the Team Leader for Western Australia. I hope to be able to reach out to parents and help them develop strong advocacy skills through having a strong knowledge base about autism and their child.

I believe that Positive Partnerships offers a safe and supportive forum for parents to share their knowledge and experiences and develop their confidence in advocating for their child’s needs.

The two most important lessons that I have learned so far are:

  • The importance of taking the time to develop a relationship based on trust
  • If you have met one person on the autism spectrum,…. you have met one person on the autism spectrum!
